Leading Wellington mortgage expert Craig Pope has been named as one of the country’s top 25 mortgage advisers of 2019 as part of NZ Adviser’s third annual top advisers rankings.
Ranked 14th out of the best 25 advisers by NZ Adviser, Craig Pope is the highest placed Wellington broker, just one of two local advisers that made it onto the list.
NZ Adviser determines the country’s top mortgage advisers based on the total value of loans settled in the past 12 months. Craig has been recognised as a top adviser since the commencement of the list, now for three years in a row.
Craig Pope says the mortgage industry is increasingly complex and credits the support of his team in achieving this year’s result.
“Being accessible to our clients and being able to problem solve is crucial—lending criteria is more complex, and the property market is challenging. Despite these factors, by working closely with my team, we’ve been able to deliver outstanding results for our clients.”
Craig Pope’s focus for the rest of 2019 is educating borrowers about New Zealand’s constantly changing lending conditions.
“Whilst interest rates are low, borrowers are still finding life difficult with ever tightening lending criteria and rising house prices. Banks continue to drill into the small detail when assessing lending applications.
“Like last year, we are finding ongoing education is important, even for people who already own a home. Refinancing can also present its own challenges; banks are wanting more information and accountability. People still under insure themselves which can open them up to unnecessary risk, should the worst-case scenario happen.”
